Dinners for Ukrainians

The ministry with Ukrainians began shortly after the war between Russia and Ukraine started, due to all the people’s urgent needs and damages that happened.

Just like we usually do when we start a new ministry, we started thinking about this new opportunity to serve the victims of war and we identified the needs of this impoverished nation.

Our motivation to commit to these people came straight from God’s heart, words found in Psalm 12:5 “For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, Now I will arise,” says the LORD; “I will set him in the safety for which he yearns.”

This is the Father’s heart so it’s very clear for us what we have to do when we hear news about needy people and the storms that come in their lives.

Furthermore, another command given by God is this: “Learn to do well, seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow, learn to do good, seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.” Isaiah 1:17.

In the New Testament is also written: “He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.” 2 Corinthians 9:9.

In the first months of ministry, we sent material help in Ukraine via our personal cars and then we shifted to rented buses. Later, in July 2022, 10 of our volunteers went to the border with Ukraine, in the Republic of Moldova, to serve in the refugees’ camp set in a village near the border. In September 2022, a team of 6 volunteers helped in the construction of temporary shelters in Ukraine.

Considering that evangelism is an essential part of our vision and driven by our desire to make God known, we connected with the Ukrainian families settled in Medias and we invited them to our base, for a community time together and dinner.

din viata lor cu Dumnezeu.

Surprised by their response, we continued to invite them. At the moment, due to their increasing number, we organize 3 dinners/month. As time went by, our relationships developed and we were able to share more about God’s love in a creative way. We were not alone in this, as many guests we had at our base were open and willing to share with them God’s Word.

The relationships are growing deeper and this is essential in creating a welcoming space for us to speak about Jesus and for discipleship.
